Job Description:

Alation seeks a Sr. Manager, People Operations. The ideal candidate will oversee the HR operations and processes that drive efficiencies to scale globally, build new approaches to deliver a great employee experience and aim to implement global HR Operations strategies across all our countries as we continue to grow. This role will also oversee HR compliance, policies, global immigration, and mobility programs. We’re looking for someone who knows what is possible from global HR operations, systems processes, and infrastructure perspective and is ready to help create this at Alation.

This role is a hybrid role with the expectations of going to work at our HQ office in Redwood City, California, at a minimum of 2x a week, and will report to the SVP of People.

What you'll be doing:

  • Oversee the HR operations and processes that drive efficiencies to scale globally and build new approaches to deliver a great employee experience

  • Lead and mentor the team members in managing various aspects of People operations (e.g., onboarding and offboarding, HRIS, HR tickets management, reporting, perks, and other administrations)

  • Partner with HR Systems team to identify and mature the needed tools and functionality to enable HR processes

  • Own the delivery, documentation, and effectiveness of core People operations and processes, systems of record, and communication protocols with other functions such as IT, Finance, Payroll, Legal, and Comms

  • Play a lead role in the development, implementation, management, support, and maintenance of Alation’s people systems and operations

  • Contribute to the creation of People team strategy and roadmaps with respect to HR Operations and cross-functional collaborations

  • Partner closely with peers, stakeholders, leadership team, and direct reports to design, influence, prioritize and develop systems automation to reduce and eliminate manual processes

  • Manage HR operations-related projects to further enhance and streamline for seamless employee and manager experience

Who you are:

  • Self-directed People Operations leader with 8+ years of progressive global HR experience, ideally in a high-growth environment

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in leading and developing a small group of Operation Analysts

  • Understands the ins and outs of HR operations in scaling a growing company

  • Strong HR functional expertise with operations, technology, systems implementations, reporting, and data and analytics

  • Project management and implementation experience a must, comfortable developing project plans and timelines and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure deliverables are met, capacity to self-manage progress against milestones with a high degree of accountability and personal urgency

  • Experience in designing technology via integrations, automated workflows, and self-service capabilities

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile and analyze large data sets and present recommendations to diverse audiences

  • Experience and a passion for building strong and effective cross-functional relationships with Legal, Finance, Payroll, and IT to ensure business processes are optimized

  • Process and execution orientated to manage multiple priorities while accomplishing departmental and organizational goals

  • Takes pride in quality, consistency, and empathy, guiding principles to drive everyday work and projects

  • Welcomes a fast pace of work and changing cadences; role modeling the ability and benefit of being flexible and adaptable

  • Ability to work as a "hands-on" manager and willingness to "roll up your sleeves" to get things done

  • Service minded: Experience and drive to provide exceptional customer service

  • Proficient with Workday and other HR technology

  • Well-versed in Google Suite (docs, sheets, etc.) and various HR systems

Compensation Pay Range:

$156,667.00 - $180,000.00

Salary Information

The base salary range is specific to the United States. The salary of the final candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, work location, specialty and training. If the final candidate has a different level of experience, the base salary target range may be lower or higher than what is published.
