About the Role
Alation is seeking a curious and data-driven Business Intelligence Data Analyst to help turn information into insights that fuel smart decisions and business growth. You’ll partner with Go-to-Market and Finance teams to deliver dashboards, data models, and analysis that improve visibility, scalability, and outcomes. You’ll balance technical skill with storytelling—translating complex data into clear, actionable insights. This role is hybrid, and will require you to be onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays in our Chennai office.
What You’ll Do
Analyze and synthesize data from multiple sources to uncover trends, opportunities, and business drivers.
Build and maintain dashboards and reports in BI tools (e.g., Sigma, Tableau) to support leadership visibility and decision-making.
Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Data Engineering to model data and validate KPIs.
Translate business questions into analytical solutions that are clear, repeatable, and scalable.
Maintain data integrity and consistency across systems to ensure a single source of truth for business reporting.
Support recurring analysis on ARR, retention, pipeline, and other core GTM metrics.
What You Need:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business Analytics).
5+ years of experience in BI, data analytics, or a similar role.
Advanced SQL skills and familiarity with dbt or equivalent transformation tools.
Experience with modern BI/reporting tools (e.g., Sigma, Tableau, Power BI).
Strong data visualization and communication skills—you make numbers tell a story.
Familiarity with using AI or productivity tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, or automation platforms) to improve efficiency and insight generation.
Comfortable working independently and managing multiple requests in a fast-moving environment.
Willingness and ability to collaborate across time zones with US-based teams.
A Big Plus If You Have:
Advanced degree in Analytics, Data Science, or a related field.
Experience using Python or R for analysis and automation.
Familiarity with Salesforce or GTM data models.
Experience supporting Finance or Revenue Operations teams.
