On the heels of our $122M USD Series D funding, we’re racing ahead with an exciting phase of scale and are looking for a Finance Lead to support our growth. Reporting to the VP, Accounting, the Finance Lead will be responsible for owning and evolving our core accounting and financial reporting processes. Our ideal candidate will be an experienced accounting professional who is versatile and solutions-focused and shares our team’s values and commitment to our mission. You’ll play a key role in helping to build and execute the financial processes that will shape Blue J's future.

The Opportunity
We’re hiring a Finance Lead to play a key role in scaling our accounting function during a period of rapid growth and operational transformation. In this role, you’ll own and evolve our core accounting and financial reporting processes. You’ll partner closely with FP&A, RevOps, Sales, and other cross-functional leaders to ensure our financial reporting and operations are accurate, insightful, and aligned with the needs of a high-growth SaaS business. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity to modernize accounting systems, foster a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement, while mentoring and developing a high-performing accounting team.
What You’ll be Doing
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring reliable, accurate, and timely financial reporting in accordance with IFRS
- Monitor and report on financial performance against budget, including partnering with department leaders to support understanding of monthly results
- Lead the optimization of existing accounting processes, with a focus on reducing time to close and ensuring scalability for growth
- Partner closely with FP&A, RevOps, and Sales to support efficient and robust end-to-end revenue processes, including participation in the implementation of a new billing system (Chargebee)
- Collaborate on finance transformation initiatives, including system optimization and automation
- Build a pragmatic and effective internal control environment, and promote a culture of control and compliance across the organization
- Lead and support the development of the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Stay up to date on industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging trends to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices.
What You Offer Blue J
- CPA designation (or equivalent), with a strong foundation in IFRS and technical accounting principles
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience
- 5+ years of experience managing a team
- Experience building, mentoring, and supporting accounting teams, and scaling processes for growth
- In-depth experience with multi-currency and multi-entity operating and reporting environments
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present accounting insights clearly and simply
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships with operational management and cross-functional teams
- Curiosity and openness to new technologies and ways of working, including automation
- Experience in a SaaS or technology company is an asset
- Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP systems is an asset

Compensation
The base pay range for this role is CA$130,000 – CA$150,000 per year.
Final compensation will be set fairly and thoughtfully based on experience, expertise, and alignment with the role’s responsibilities. While all candidates are expected to bring directly relevant experience, the top of the range is typically reserved for individuals who demonstrate exceptional depth in the role’s core competencies, a strong track record of impact in similar environments, and the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy from day one.
