🧑‍💻 What is this role?

Bounce is seeking an Engineering Manager to join our Lisbon office. This role will help build and support our product development pods in crafting new products atop our platform with the goal of expanding the Bounce marketplace.

As an engineering manager, you possess the engineering expertise to provide technical leadership and manage a team of up to 8 engineers. You will support the technical architecture decisions and tradeoffs for your team, contribute to product strategy and help inspire and develop the careers of your team members.

Our ultimate goal is to build a large-scale, shared technology platform that supports various products capable of rapid iteration and exploration.

At Bounce, we focus on serving our customers and partners rather than solely on technological innovation.

We work in fast-paced 1-week cycles. Projects are usually scoped down to fit into one or two cycles. Projects are led by individuals but are a shared effort across the entire team. There will always be aspects of any project that will require collaboration, feedback, and guidance—we expect you to ask for help.

An ideal candidate is excited by all aspects of this software-building process, not just writing code. We’re a small team that thrives off of individuals who can take features from an idea to live on production. This is not a role where issues will be assigned to you and you churn through them.

👷🏾‍♀️ What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage and support a team of product engineers focused on building best-in-class new product experiences for Bounce.
• Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to coordinate work across product, design, engineering, and other functions.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership to your teams and others who collaborate with your teams to ensure a cohesive product experience and the right technical abstractions.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing engineers. You’ll foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and ownership.
  
  

✅ Your profile

• 3+ years of experience managing and leading high-output software teams.
• A proven track record of building products (both as a manager and individual contributor) that are best in class in user experience.
• Strong technical communication skills and demonstrated ability to build and leverage relationships with other engineering and technical leaders
• A relentless focus on business impact through product & engineering excellence.
• You have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and with teams across the engineering organization.
• Demonstrated leadership skills in building a high-performing and highly engaged engineering team, including mentoring and growing senior engineers.
• Commitment to creating an exceptional end-user experience, with attention to the smallest details that can elevate their interaction with our platform.
• Bring a passion for staying on top of industry trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, and participating in internal and external technology communities

Compensation Range: €77K - €122K
