Defense Unicorns seeks a Golang Software Engineer to work on Zarf, an open source project. This role will work closely with fellow software engineers, and the Open Source Community within the OpenSSF.
Responsibilities:
- Core contributor to Open Source Tools within Defense Unicorns.
- Develop in Golang, contributing to a team that inspires continuous improvement.
- Work with engineers internal to the company, and within the open source community to reproduce issues and collaborate on fixes.
- Actively participate with the open source community via Kubernetes Slack, Github Issues, and Google Groups.
- Work closely with teammates to ensure a cohesive culture.
- Loves to grow! Enjoys thinking critically, learning new technologies, and working with the team to cut through ambiguity.
- Comfortable in an asynchronous, all remote environment.
Travel Expectations/Requirements: 5-15%
The listed responsibilities are not exhaustive and additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the evolving needs of the organization. We are seeking a person who is able to adapt and take on new responsibilities as they arise.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience with software engineering.
- Comfortable in Golang, familiarity with Rust is a plus!
- Familiar with Kubernetes (Controllers, Operators, CRDs)
- Contributing to Open Source Projects such as: participating in Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), Apache Software Foundation (ASF), or Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF) is a huge plus!
- Excited to assess intricate problems, propose solutions, and implement them effectively.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, comfortable conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience. Compensation ranges are established using national benchmarking data and apply across all geographic locations within the United States.
