Kong is heavily investing in our UI and test automations and is looking for a highly talented Senior Software Engineer in Test specializing in frontend technologies to help ensure our applications are of the highest quality. You will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and executing test suites for our Konnect and Developer Portal applications, focusing on performance, reliability, and user experience. Working closely with our frontend engineers and the product team, you will deliver robust testing solutions to support scalable UI components and seamless user interfaces.

What you’ll be doing:
Develop and maintain end-to-end tests for UI components using Cypress, Playwright, and Vitest.
Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure high-quality and performant code.
Build and maintain a testing framework for regression, smoke, and component-level tests.
Enhance automation coverage and ensure efficient test execution.
Debug and resolve issues within the UI and provide support for performance and load testing.
Work closely with product and design teams to ensure pixel-perfect, responsive designs are well-tested and work across different platforms and devices.
Integrate tests within CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions.
Improve test documentation and actively contribute to test planning and strategy.
What you’ll bring:
5+ years of experience in frontend testing with a focus on JavaScript, TypeScript, and frontend frameworks like Vue.js, React.js.
Extensive hands-on experience with testing frameworks and tools like Vitest, Cypress, Playwright, and Jest.
Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and the ability to test for both functional and visual fidelity.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation integration.
Familiarity with component-driven development and testing in mono repos or micro-frontends architecture.
Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and product teams, providing insights and suggestions to improve quality.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, particularly with pixel perfection and cross-browser/device testing.
Bonus Points:
Knowledge of API testing and tools like Insomnia.
Experience with performance testing and load testing tools.
Familiarity with Developer Portals or API Gateway tools and workflows.
Contributions to open-source testing tools or testing communities.
