The Business Development Manager will play an integral role in maximizing revenue and driving relationships with agencies, advertisers, and other demand partners (e.g. DSPs, Top 6 agency hold co); who leverage OpenX ad technology and services. Based in Tokyo, the role will report to the Business Development Director, Japan. You will manage day-to-day workflow, and partner engagement between OpenX and partners, including monitoring key performance indicators to ensure partners’ success and satisfaction with our products, and driving revenue by identifying client growth opportunities

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the demand book of business, including achieving and surpassing revenue targets.
  • Develop and execute plans to drive deep engagement, especially with key strategic relationships.
  • Proactively identify customer engagement opportunities to ensure strategic alignment and to achieve revenue growth, including conducting recurring meetings via phone and in-person, and preparing/delivering quarterly business reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling OpenX products including private marketplaces, ad exchange, mobile, video, and the supply-side platform.
  • Serve as an internal advocate for clients by identifying common needs/opportunities across a portfolio of clients to develop a product roadmap for demand partners.
  • Develop and maintain a deep technical understanding of the OpenX monetization suite of products and how demand partners can most effectively engage with those various products. Represent the company at trade-shows and other industry events.

Required Skills

  • 5-7 years of online advertising sales and/or technical account management experience in mobile, video, online advertising, and ad technology with a proven successful track record.
  • Proven history of managing strategic relationships; leading engagement with all levels of the customer’s organization.
  • Excellent teamwork and communications skills.
  • Experience working in a platform or demand generation role with Ad Exchanges, DSPs/SSPs, Ad Networks, digital advertising agencies, or ad servers.
  • A strong network of local and regional demand relationships and knowledge of the online media business and technology landscape in the region.
  • Experience in growing a book of business with a history of managing strategic relationships, and attaining and surpassing revenue goals.
  • Practical “hands-on” experience interacting with clients using advertising products and technology.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.

Desired Qualifications

  • Lead from the front approach to driving consultative relationships with strategic partners, and evangelize OpenX and our products in the marketplace as a recognized industry thought leader.
  • Experience building very strong personal relationships, overcoming tough issues in positive ways and building lasting inter-company partnerships.
  • A clear understanding of both the business as well as the technology of digital advertising relating to display, mobile, or video with a focus on account management, trafficking, ad ops, platform/inventory management, media planning/buying, or similar experience.
  • Strong understanding of programmatic buying techniques and real-time bidding.
  • Familiarity with CRM, analytics tools, incident tracking systems (ex: SFDC, MMX, Tableau,JIRA)
  • Excellent teamwork and communications skills – both inside and outside the company.
  • Highly organized; used to managing multiple projects with tight deadlines with attention to detail.
