As a Senior Data Engineer at Rewst, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data infrastructure. You are not only an expert in data engineering but also a great software engineer with a strong foundation in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, and PostgreSQL.

In the short term, you will collaborate closely with our Reliability, Infrastructure, and Scaling (RISc) team to maintain, optimize, and normalize our PostgreSQL databases. Your expertise will be crucial to ensuring data integrity and reliability during this phase as we lay the groundwork for scaling our systems globally. While these tasks are critical in the near term, they are not expected to be your long-term primary responsibility.

As we move forward, you will take on more strategic challenges related to distributed data systems. You will be instrumental in designing and building scalable, global data architectures that support advanced data-driven decision-making, customer analytics, and future AI and ML capabilities. Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar role, with a strong emphasis on data engineering and software development.

• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, and PostgreSQL.

• Experience with database maintenance, optimization, and normalization.

• Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, particularly with services like RDS, S3, and data pipeline tools.

• Expertise in designing and implementing data synchronization processes for inter- and intra-region data.

• Knowledge of distributed data systems, with an interest in tackling challenging problems related to global data distribution.

• Proven ability to design and build scalable, reliable, and maintainable data systems.

• Ability to independently take on complex tasks and deliver high-quality results.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues in data systems.

• Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

• Self-motivated and able to take ownership of projects with minimal oversight.

• Experience working in a startup environment and excited to tackle new challenges.

• Knowledge or experience with low-code tools or robotic process automation tools.

• Familiarity with advanced data concepts such as data lakes, real-time data processing, or streaming data architectures.
