The Role – Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer. You’ll be driving the expansion and enhancement of our integrations with client’s HR systems, ensuring a seamless onboarding process for our clients and users. Your expertise in developing robust, scalable solutions will be instrumental in delivering a top-tier product that meets enterprise needs.

In this role, you’ll get to:

• Collaborate with a Technical Product Manager and Staff Engineer, contributing ideas as well as translating complex business needs into actionable solutions
• Work alongside other engineers to architect, design, and implement solutions that are scalable, reliable, and align with the technical direction of the product
• Identify lean solutions and guide the team to find the right balance between technical excellence and shipping value to our users and clients
• Own existing (and future!) features and systems - ensuring they are covered by monitoring, automated alerting and tests at the appropriate level
• Represent your team’s domain in the wider engineering forums - contributing to shaping our technical direction, surfacing (and optimising) benefits to the developer experience and achieving engineering’s strategic goals

Skills and Experience

We encourage you to remove education from your CV upon application as qualifications are not a driving factor in our decision making and we are committed to tackling educational inequality. We firmly believe that no one is the finished article and that there should be learning in every role you do. However, some experience in the following is important for this position:

• Product experience with Typescript, in a backend environment (Node.js), at a senior level
• Experience with SQL, and ideally optimising queries against large datasets
• Experience with other parts of our stack (React, AWS, Terraform) or a willingness to learn
• Familiarity with authentication mechanisms, such as working with JWTs, OAuth
• Passion for delivering impactful solutions for our users and clients. You wield tech debt strategically in order to help the team ship quickly and make pragmatic tradeoffs.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity (we’re a startup after-all) - remaining open-minded despite uncertainty and viewing change as an exciting opportunity to learn and grow
